Rita Williams, Gruver

Rita Williams, 80, lifelong resident of Gruver, passed away on Tuesday, March, 7, 2023 in Spearman. A memorial is scheduled for Monday, March 13, 2023, 2:00p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gruver, with Rev. Scott Curry officiating. Services are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Rita Gail Williams was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma, on January 28, 1943 to Alfred Ray Henderson and Aline Brooks Ayres. Jerry Williams and Rita Henderson were married on June 9, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Gruver. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gruver.

Rita was everybody’s “Bay”. She loved playing bridge, and made the best chicken fried steak. She was just a wonderful cook. She loved going to her grandkids activities. Rita was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Ty Williams.

Rita is survived by her husband, Jerry of the home, sons, Todd and wife, Janet Williams of Gruver, daughter-in-law Paula Williams of Gruver, son, Trevor and wife, Cynthia Williams of Amarillo. She is also survived by her sister, Valine Lunn, 5 grandchildren, Lance and Mattie Williams,Tucker and Crystal Williams,Taylor and Tasha Williams, Brooks and Ty Swinney, Ashby Williams and Brooklyne Bolton and 7 great-grandchildren.

Family suggests memorials in memory of Rita be to Gruver Scholarship Fund, Gruver High School, 601 Garrett, Gruver, TX. 79040.
