Pearson Resigns from Spearman School Board; Renner Appointed

by Editor

At last week's Spearman school board meeting, Trustee Mike Pearson announced his resignation, citing family considerations and a desire to avoid a potential conflict of interest. Pearson's daughter will be teaching in the district, according to her Facebook page.

The board has opted to fill the vacancy through appointment, as allowed by law.

At a special board meeting this week, the School Board appointed Rhett Renner to fill Pearson's term.  Renner lost by one vote in the May election, and a Board member told the Reporter Statesman that they used that as the criteria to make the decision, as they felt Renner's appointment would best reflect what the community would want.
