In Memory of Patricia Jean Howard, Logan Oklahoma

May 15, 2025

Patricia Jean "Patt" Howard, beloved wife, mom, mamah, teacher, and friend, age 78, of Logan, Oklahoma, passed from this earth and into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her children, in Spearman, Texas, on April 30, 2025.
Patt was born in Houston, Texas on October 1, 1946 to Mildred Young Howard and Farris Edward Howard. She graduated from Guymon High School with the Class of 1964. She then attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where she graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. While in attendance at Panhandle State, she met a young man that captured her heart, Jerry Howard. They met in the college library and it was love at first sight. Jerry asked Patt to apply to be his dairy maid, as he was a dairy farmer. He wrote out an application and she joyfully applied. Thankfully, he hired her. They were married on December 19, 1965 and enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage. Jerry and Patt were blessed with two children, Russell and Krista.

Patt went onto receive her Master's degree in School Counseling from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1993. She was privileged to be a school teacher and school counselor for 53 years. She always said that if she were rich, she would be a teacher or counselor for free. She was passionate about education. She loved her many generations of students and was extremely proud of her students and their accomplishments.
Patt was actively engaged in the family farming operation. She enjoyed many years of supporting Jerry as he ran the dairy, farmed, and ranched. Jerry and Patt built a life that was grounded in faith, family, friends, generosity, and service to others.

Patt had an immense love for her family. She served as a 4-H leader and enjoyed watching her children participate in 4-H, FFA, sports, and many other activities while they attended both Garrett and Laverne High School.
Grandkids - now that was a different story. She loved her grandkids and was extremely proud of each and everyone of them. She and Jerry put thousands of miles on their car traveling across Oklahoma and Texas watching the Laverne Tigers and the Spearman Lynx. She didn't want to miss one activity that her grandkids were involved with. Mamah let the grandkids stay up as late as they wanted and eat way too many snacks. She taught them funny songs, read them books, and took them on fun adventures that they still remember to this day. There was no one better in the world than Mamah.

Patt's faith played an important part throughout her life. She was a member of the Midway Country Church. She looked forward to church service, loved songs sung by a good men's quartet, and read her bible on a daily basis.
Patt was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Howard; sister Shirley England Carlson, foster parents, Milton and Ora Lea England; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Belva Pennington; niece, Sherry Korsmo; and great nephew, Dakota Pennington.
