A Spearman man dies in a motorcycle accident, his wife sustained serious injuries

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that on July 4, 2024, at approximately 8:06 pm, Jimmy Snider, 61, and Jean Snider, his wife, formerly of Spearman, were involved in a motorcycle accident.

The crash report states that a 2018 GMC Sierra driven by Daniel Hamm, 63 of Ramona, Oklahoma was traveling southbound on S. Western, while the Sniders on a 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Motorcycle were traveling westbound on W. McCormick. Mr. Hamm failed to yield the right of way at the stop intersection and traveled into the path of the Motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the left rear quarter of the GMC Sierra.

Mr. Snider was pronounced deceased on the scene by Randall County Justice of the Peace Tracy Byrd. Mrs. Snider was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
