In Loving Memory of Sonja Janice Wiseman, Winfield, AL

Sonja Janice Wiseman Westerfield was born on August 17[th], 1938, in Borger, Texas and went home to be with her Lord on June 13[th], 2024, in Winfield, Alabama. She was truly a remarkable woman who strove for excellence all of her life.

Sonja was born and raised in Borger, Texas, where she met her life-long best friend, Micca Chapman Pirtle. She went to Texas Tech University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. It was at Texas Tech where she met and was married to Joe Pat Westerfield on August 18[th], 1957. After graduating from Texas Tech, they began their life together in Gruver, Texas.

In Gruver, Sonja raised three children, Max, Tina, and Lisa. She was a school teacher and taught English, Special Education, Speech and Drama. She coached her high school drama team all the way to the state finals and was well-loved by her students. She was a member of the Gruver United Methodist Church and went on mission trips from the church.

In 1978, the family moved to Broomfield, Colorado, for three years, then moved back to Borger, Texas, where Pat and Sonja owned and operated the K-Bob's Steak House. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Borger.

At the age of 48, she decided to go to law school and attended Texas Tech University School of Law. After practicing Immigration Law in Houston, Texas, for a few years, she moved back to Borger and opened her own law practice. She was a compassionate and hard-working attorney who served her clients in Borger until her retirement in 2017.

Anyone who knew Sonja can tell you stories. She had a big personality and there was never a dull moment when Sonja was around. The stories will almost certainly involve the cabin in Ruidoso, decorating, extravagant meals, or the endless funny situations she found herself in. Sonja will be missed by her family and friends. Hers was a life well-lived.

She is preceded in death by her father Paul Wiseman, her mother Evelyn Wiseman, her husband Pat Westerfield, and her brother Ronald Wiseman.

She is survived by her brother, Mark Wiseman and his wife Linda, her sister-in-law Ramona Wiseman, her son Max Westerfield and his wife Gina, her daughter Tina Randall and her husband Mark, her daughter Lisa Feldman, her grandchildren Miles Randall, Pierce Westerfield, Matt Randall, Bailey Westerfield, Bregg Feldman, and Dacey Feldman, and her nieces and nephews Stephen Westerfield, Lee Westerfield, Eric Wiseman and Jill Wiseman.
