Venus Paul Reimer, 92, of Amarillo

December 21, 2023

Venus Paul Reimer, 92, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on December 14, 2023.

Paul was born in Bessie, Oklahoma on February 22, 1931, to Leasther (Dyck) and Henry Jacob Reimer. He passed away in Amarillo, Texas on December 14, 2023.

Paul attended a country school near Cordell and graduated from high school at the Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma. He was raised in a farming community and even started school only knowing how to speak German. As Paul grew up, he helped his dad with farming chores, milking, and servicing the equipment. Paul discovered, developed, and refined his mechanical skills there.

Venus Paul Reimer met Bonita as a young man. His sister Rosalie was friends with Bonita, and Paul says he was smitten with her long before they began dating when she was 15. They became engaged her senior year and wed in May of 1953 after her graduation. That was the beginning of their devoted marriage of over 68 years. Bonita and Paul were blessed with four daughters: Debi, Karen, Elaine, and Heather.

Paul worked as a machinist in Pampa, Texas for 16 years at Motor Inn and eventually owned his own shop, called Paul's Machine in Spearman, Texas. Paul was a diligent and tenacious worker and farmers all around brought their engines to him. He was devoted to his family and could often be found holding on to a purse or two for his wife and daughters. Paul was a quiet man but enjoyed laughing and joking with all of his family. He enjoyed watching football and was known to give a shout when the teams needed it. He is infamous for his pork chops and grilling but was also always happy to be a taste tester for Bonita and his daughters as well.

Bonita and Paul were active members in the First Christian Church in the communities where they resided. They served as youth sponsors and Paul served as a deacon. He sang in the Happy Timers Choir in Amarillo with Bonita after retiring. He enjoyed reading in his retirement years and playing Spinner with family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita, a daughter, Elaine Morris, a sister Rosalie, and his parents.

He will be missed and remembered by his daughters, Debi Jenkins and husband Jim of Lubbock, Texas, Karen Whitlow of Amarillo, Texas, Rick Morris son-in-law of Pampa, Texas, and Heather Stowers and husband Jeff of Friona, Texas; his sister, Darlene Krewall of Clinton, Oklahoma, and her sons; and his sister-in-law, Joan Caldwell and their sons of Lexington, Kentucky. He was " Papa" to grandchildren, Josh (Jen) Jenkins of College Station, Texas, Caleb and Jordan Jenkins of Lubbock, Texas, Meagan (Kyle) Brookes of Amarillo, Texas, Randa (Kevin) Hiett of Pampa, Texas, Whitney (Logan) Buck of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Reese and Cade Stowers of Friona, Texas; and to great-grandchildren, Avery, Grayson, Brandon, Claire, Lawson, Eli, Morris, McLaren, Mercer, and Merrill.

Private services will be held at a later date.
