Spearman High School October Lion’s Club Students of the Month

by Spearman ISD

The October Lion’s Club Students of the Month at Spearman High School are seniors, Evelyn Mendoza and Ethan Caro.

Evelyn Mendoza is the daughter of Luis Mendoza and Angelica Torres. She has three brothers, Brayan, Alexander, and Maximiliano and one sister, Kayla Mendoza. Evelyn is currently completing our Health Science Pathway and will take her CNA exam this year. She is also CPR certified. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoys hanging out and cruising with her friends. However, she really does not have time for hanging out and cruising because she works two part time jobs and has to do her school work. Her future plans include attending college and becoming a neonatal nurse. Evelyn’s advice to underclassmen is, “Don’t take what everybody says so personally. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter, as long as you believe in yourself.” When asked to describe her senior year in three words, Evelyn says, “Rollercoaster, exciting, and stressful!” Evelyn states the best that about Spearman is, “I like the small-town atmosphere and that we all know each other.” Evelyn’s most influential teacher during her school years is Mrs. Hicks.

Ethan Caro is the son of Edy Caro. He has one older sister, Karla Caro and one older brother, Edgar Car. Ethan has been active in Spearman Lynx football and track, Student Council, Spanish Club, Art Club, Esports Club, and FFA – which includes stock shows, CDE’s and LDE’s. While in high school, he has been named the Top Student of the Year in Spanish 1, Biology, and College Chemistry. He was also named All-District Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman and was a member of the 2022 football team that was named National Football Foundation National High School Academic 3A State Champions. Ethan has also been listed on the All A Honor Roll throughout high school. In his spare time, Ethan enjoys sports and volunteering. Ethan’s plans after high school are to attend Texas Tech University or Abilene Christian University where he will major in agribusiness. He also has plans to become and electrician. Ethan’s most memorable high school moment was his freshman year. “We finally came back from online learning and we got to see everyone.” When asked to describe his senior year in 3 words, Ethan states, “Fast, Unexpected, and Fun!” The single most important lesson he has learning while attending Spearman ISD is, “Use your resources and do your research.” Ethan’s most influential teacher during his school years is Dr. Mike Ralston.

Congratulations to Evelyn and Ethan on being named the Spearman High School October Lion’s Club Students of the Month.
