Janis Maupin was born March 29, 1943 in Amarillo to Robert Warren Hart and Mary Rae Cluck Hart. After much anticipation on her part, she met the Lord God on September 6, 2023 in Canadian, Texas. Janis was an avid cowgirl, having made her living as much as possible working in feed yards, with her favorite job being a pen rider. She loved to ride horses and would rather be team roping than eat whenshe was hungry. She also loved her family fiercely. Her grands and great grands kept a smile on her face and a song in her heart.

Janis married Nolan Maupin on December 31, 1987 in Spearman, Texas. It is still up for debate as to who chased whom the most. Their 35 year marriage was full of adventures and stories, as many of us have witnessed.

Janis is survived by husband Nolan; sister Tanya Hefner; 3 children: Shannon Shipley, Bill Shipley and Trevor Shipley. Grandchildren include Dusty (David) Witcher, Ronna (Shan) Wilson, Pake (Re-becca) Eckhardt, Shyla (Ty) Nicholas, Chris (Kayla) Shipley , Hailey (Jesse) Callaway, Will Shipley, Ellie Shipley, JT Shipley, Nicholas Shipley and Christian Shipley. Great grandchildren include Kylie Thom-as, Kambree Desmond, Paisley Thompson, Shay Wilson, Reagan Rae Wilson, Taylee Eckhardt, Jack Wilson, Karsyn Shipley, Caston Shipley, Jasper Callaway, Colynn Callaway,Wyatt Day, Ry Nicholas and Cy Nicholas.
