Hansford Livestock Judging team shines at competition earning the Top Score; Pittman earns second best overall score
14 members of the Hansford County 4H spent 3 days in Stillwater, Oklahoma, competing at the Big 3 Field Days. This is one of the longest running and most strongly attended livestock judging competitions in the nation. It draws students from all over the region, and even from Florida this year. The format consists of three days of contests, featuring a different species each day. The first day is Sheep Day. The Hansford Senior team placed 2nd with Kinley Shieldknight earning a 6th place ribbon and Arden Pittman placing 8th. The second day is Cattle Day. The junior team took the spotlight in this one by winning High Junior 4H team in cattle. Brox Reid was named High Individual in Junior 4H cattle. His 345 out of a possible 350 was the 4th best score among all 1461 students competing across all 4 age divisions. The 3rd day is Swine Day and the senior team took out their frustration from a rough cattle day on the field. They were named High Senior 4H team in swine. Their combined score of 1006 out of a possible 1050 was the top team score among the 305 teams competing across the 4 divisions. Arden led the way by being named High Individual in Senior 4H swine. Her 344 score out of 350 was the second best score posted from the 1397 students competing swine day. Kip Pittman also placed well with a 6th place finish. When all of the scores were totalled and the sweepstakes awards were presented, the junior team ended up 7th overall. Individually, Brox placed 18th and Mallary Allen was 36th. In the senior 4H division, the Hansford crew placed 5th in the sweepstakes. Arden won 8th overall for the week. and Kinley placed 9th. The Hansford County team members worked very hard on a pretty intense schedule. Senior team members making the trip were Arden Pittman, Kinley Shieldknight, Kip Pittman, Alayna Schneider, Spencer Aborn, and Aubree Sharp. Junior team members are Brox Reid, Mallary Allen, Brynley McLaughlin, Hayden Shieldknight, Addison Blevins, Brenlye Buchanan, Madison Moore, and Chloe McLaughlin.
