CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head wom- en’s basketball coach Josh Prock has announced the addition of Spear- man, Texas product Braylen Lusby to the Lady Buff High School Signing Class of 2023-24.

“Braylen truly embodies every- thing we are looking to recruit to here

at WT. She has a tremendous under- standing of the game and plays the game the right way. Her effort on both ends of the court is what really stood out to us and will be what makes her successful” said Prock “Braylen is a very talented young lady that can really do it all, she is tremendous shooter

and is very good and crafty getting to the basket.”

Lusby enters her senior campaign already surpassing the 5,000-point plateau as she was named a member of the Amarillo Globe News Preseason Super Team. She was tabbed a Lone Star Preps top point guard in the Class of 2024 as she picked up District 1-3A Most Valuable Player honors last season to be recognized by Press Pass Sports and the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

In the classroom, she was named a Consumer Science Top Student of the Year while also being an Academic All-District selection in basketball. She also excelled on the track as a silver medalist in the 800m and mile relay while winning a bronze medal at the Class 3A Cross Country State Championships.

“The basketball intelligence she has really shows on the defensive end, she understands where to be and competes on every play” added Prock “She is someone who will represent our program very well off the court as well. When you think about the traits we want to recruit to become a Lady Buff, Braylen represents all those traits.”

Braylen is the daughter of Michael and Jess Anne Lusby and she has two brothers, Layne and Kolt. She is expected to major in Nursing at West Texas A&M.

“I think it is outstanding that WT is keeping West Texas talent in West Texas. Bray is a Lady Buff at heart and it’s in her genes as her mom and dad both played at WT” said Spearman High School head coach Dustin Klafka “Bray is a leader in ever since of the word, she has tremendous God-given talent but more importantly she has every in- tangible you could want in an athlete. She is an extremely hard worker, tough, and one of the most competitive kids I’ve ever coached. WT is getting a special young lady.”
